MELODY MORTON, Studio Owner, Peak Pilates Trainer

Backed by a BA in Dance and 16 years of experience in dance, teaching and management in the service fields, Melody Morton delivers what she promises—a positive life-changing program.  Her inspiring leadership, warmth and clear focus attract loyal clients of all ages.  Her approach is holistic, meaning each client is evaluated and encouraged personally in an inviting supportive environment.

Pilates and yoga are Melody’s primary focus because, “They are the 2 most effective systems for lasting physical and emotional change I have found.  Pilates creates strength and yoga flexibility.  Combined or alone, either system can transform one’s self to a person who can move through life’s challenges with courage and a high degree of energy. MARY ARMENIA, Massage Therapist

Mary is a Licensed Massage Therapist from the Phoenix School of Holistic Massage, a graduate from The School of Transformation and Healing and a Reiki Master & teacher. Her massage techniques include Swedish, Thai, Trigger-point and Pressure-point, incorporating Reiki & healing touch. As a Certified Natural Health Professional, she encourages clients toward holistic & balanced living supported by proper foods, supplements and herbs. Mary is also owner of The V.I.B.E. Machine (Vibrational Integration Bio-Photonic Energizer), an innovative tool for creating higher vibration in each cell in the body using beneficial electromagnetic fields. back to top

 

CHRISTY BOHANNON, Pilates

Christy has loved anything athletic since becoming a gymnast at age 3. Although she is an engineer by day, she maintains an active lifestyle at night. Christy is an Ironman Triathlete who initially discovered Pilates as a way to improve her core stability and improve her triathlon performance. After a short time, Pilates became an integral part of her training regimen. In 2008, Christy decided to further her knowledge of Pilate by obtaining her PPS 1 certification. Now, she enjoys sharing her love of exercise with everyone else! back to top

 

LAURA CALDARERA, Pilates Instructor

A Native Houstonian growing up backstage at the Houston Ballet, Laura has always had a great love for the arts. From ballet to gymnastics to visual art, voice, and creative writing, she has always found an artistic outlet. After discovering and falling in love with Pilates as a teenage, she immediately recognized it's healthy lifestyle benefits. Having been a student in various studios in the Houston area, as a certified instructor she now hopes to help others benefit from Pilates’ positive influence. back to top

 

MONICA DELGADO, Pilates Instructor

Monica graduated from the University of the Philippines with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts, majoring in Painting. During the day, she teaches art in an inner city middle school. A former gymnast and cheerleader, Monica has always balanced an active lifestyle with her passion for the arts. After discovering Pilates and realizing the significance of the principles and benefits of the practice, Monica permanently incorporated it into her lifestyle. For her, the Pilates principles branches out to everyday life tasks as well as in her own art making. She is currently PPS-I Certified at the Good Space. back to top

 

TISH HOLLAMON, Pilates Instructor

Tish Hollamon is a wife, a mother of two gorgeous little girls, and a passionate second year Pilates Instructor. Her passion for Pilates began 8 years ago. She wanted to help others, especially moms and other women, find a passion in the only method of movement that she believes truly encompasses the total mind, body, & spirit to the fullest extent. Tish has a B.S. degree from Sam Houston State University and had a very successful 13-year career in corporate America. She decided to leave it all behind when she realized how her career was taking a toll on her body and mind. After having her first child, a friend introduced her to Pilates and it was a revelation. It was the beginning of an 8-year learning quest, which led to her dream of becoming an instructor. Tish says she decided on the Peak Method because “it truly emphasizes authentic Joseph Pilates origin with an athletic flair to boot…" "In today’s world everyone must treat their whole being with a little more care inside & out. MARY SHARON KOMAREK, Pilates Instructor

Pilates has been a part of Mary Sharon’s life journey for the past 15 years; As a college student working toward a BFA in Dance craving long and lean muscles; as a Broadway dancer recovering from injury; as a pregnant woman preparing for the rigors of labor; as a new mom needing to get back in shape and now as a ‘maturing’ woman. Diverse populations of clients enjoy her energetic and soulful teaching! Mary Sharon is the proud wife of Chris and mother of Charles. back to top

 

EMILY MCCOIN, Pilates Instructor

Emily is a native Houstonian and was a southern bell for four years while attending Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi. After graduation, she moved back to Houston and pursued her Pilates training. Emily started going to The Good Space with her mom attending mat classes. It was a special mother daughter activity that they could do together. Working behind the front desk at The Good Space gave Emily an opportunity to see how Pilates changes people’s lives. Being a high school and college cheerleader, Emily understands movement first occurs from your Powerhouse. During Emily’s Peak Pilates System training, she discovered a new passion for the body’s anatomy and how the body can move. While doing her PPSI training at The Good Space, Emily received daily encouragement from other instructors and clients. She has seen how Pilates has improved her posture, core and self confidence. back to top

 

DONNA MURPHY, Massage Therapist

Donna is a Licensed Massage Therapist with over 14 years of experience and is committed to helping all of her clients achieve optimal health through the benefits of massage. Donna combines Swedish massage with deep tissue work, trigger point techniques, neuromuscular therapy and aromatherapy. As a professional massage therapist, she has over two years of Chiropractor assistance and has the knowledge to refer to other professionals to compliment the benefits of massage. She continues to be one of the massage therapists to work with the Houston Ballet Company. back to top

 

SELISE STEWART, Yoga Instructor (her website)

Selise is a native Houstonian and a Graduate of the University of Texas. Selise has been studying,practicing and teaching YOGA ASANA for over ten years in Houston. Selise Teaches Level 1 and Level 2 classes and offers private instruction by appointment Currently Selise is Practicing and Teaching The Iyengar Method of Yoga. Iyengar Yoga was developed by world renowned living Yoga Master B.K.S. Iyengar. Iyengar Yoga is known for its precise emphasis on skeletal alignment and muscle action. Props are used as well as detailed instruction and correction by the instructor so that each pose is safe, grounded and integrated. An integrated pose(asana) benefits all systems of the body, including cardiovascular, digestive, nervous and immune. JACKIE SUCHSLAND, Certified Flexibility Therapist

A former paramedic and rehab therapist, Jackie’s love of patient care ignited an interest in proactive alternative health care. She holds a license in Massage Therapy and certifications in Myofascial Stretch and Cranio-Sacral Therapy, Personal Training and Pilates.

Jackie specializes in MYOFASCIAL STRETCH THERAPY. Used widely by professional and Olympic athletes, it is a deep “unwinding” and loosening of the muscles as well as the web of connective tissue throughout the body. This amazing form of therapeutic bodywork can be both energizing and relaxing. It is done wearing work-out clothes and without the need for any oils or cream, which provides a client with more options than a traditional massage on a busy day.

Unlike massage, the gentle range of motion movement patterns and muscle balancing used in this therapy mimic functional movement and helps re-train the nervous system to allow more balanced free motion and new postural patterns. Clients will benefit from Jackie’s diverse background and ongoing education. She will have you feeling better at any age or fitness level. back to top

 

CATHY TERRAZAS, Daily Operations Manager

Cathy graduated from Texas Tech University with an Honors degree in Marketing and went on to build a successful career in banking. Her enthusiasm for fitness includes a background in ballet, modern dance, Pilates, and yoga. She was introduced to Pilates in 2002 and immediately fell in love with the movement system. She began her teaching career in 2005 when she was certified in Basic and Intermediate Mat through Peak Pilates under Julie Williams at The Good Space. After the birth of her son in 2006, Cathy decided to leave banking behind and pursue her passion for Pilates. She trained with Melody Morton at the Good Space and successfully completed PPS-1 in 2007 and PPS2 in 2008. In 2009, she was privileged to study with Colleen Glenn, complete PPS-3 and obtain her Peak Pilates Comprehensive Certification. Understanding the importance of women’s fitness, Cathy also holds a certification in Pre/Post Natal Pilates through The Center for Women’s Fitness. Cathy's goal is to share her passion for Pilates with her students and enable them to fully experience the mind-body-spirit benefits Pilates offers. back to top

 

MELINDA GRUNEWALD, Pilates Instructor

Melinda found her passion for fitness and dance at a very young age. From ballet classes at age 2 to advance jazz classes in college, she has always incorporated both into her everyday life. After graduating from the University of Arizona with a Marketing degree, Melinda decided to move back home to Houston to pursue a business career. In her spare time, she began teaching various aerobics classes but had to stop teaching due to chronic hip pain and tendonitis in her ankles. Then she started training and learning about the Peak Pilates System and its rehabilitative abilities of both the body and mind. While helping to cure her own ailments, Melinda has devoted the past 5 years to helping her clients and friends realize the amazing power Pilates has on making them physically and mentally healthier in their everyday lives. Melinda is currently a Professionally Certified Instructor thru Peak Pilates System Level III as well as Level I in Barrel and Chair. back to top

 

SUSAN ZHU, Pilates Instructor

Susan Zhu has a great love for strength and movement. Growing up in Beijing, China, she practiced Kung Fu, ballet, and yoga. In 2003, when Susan came to the United States, she found Pilates and immediately loved its positive influence on daily life. She brings her energetic personality to her fast paced, high energy classes. Her goal is to help people find their inner strength and power through their powerhouse.
