...I am giving credit to the instruction I received at the Good Space for the strength I have maintained in my leg after lateral release surgery that did not turn out as expected. I have been out of commision since early last year, but have remained very strong where it appears the norm is to have muscles that atrophy. Since I had already learned to make the mind/body connection (thanks to picky, picky, picky instructors over there!), I have needed minimal correction from the physical therapist and do most of my work by myself at home. I have to isolate muscles I've never heard of to help keep my kneecap where it's supposed to be. I've been released to return to pilates, (now my core needs work) and am very excited about the myfascial stretching. I had researched it on the internet, but had no idea it was available over there. I find it interesting that many of the PT exercises are stretches I learned through pilates. It would be great if the insurance company would cover pilates the same as they do for PT. Unfortunately, Cigna did not ask for my opinion when the policy was written. I'm looking forward to getting back to exercise under the watchful eyes of wonderful instructors at the Good Space.

After going through treatment – chemo and radiation – I was desperate to regain my strength and sense of well-being. The opening of The Good Space was perfect timing for my needs! Hastily getting ready for our intro class to Pilates. My mother had quickly told me “TO HURRY!” “I DON’T WANT TO BE LATE” she said.  I was wondering what was this Pilates stuff all about?  After meeting the great people at the Good Space, I quickly learned what benefits could be had. My mental and physical condition improved dramatically. Pilates emphasizes proper breathing, I found lung space I never knew I had.  Also daily stress can be relieved through daily Pilates exercising. The Good Space was recommended to me by my daughter, who already was an enthusiastic student of Pilates. She hoped that as a senior “senior citizen” with leukemia, I would enjoy the benefits from taking yoga lessons. I started with private yoga, with a gradual adding of a few basic Pilates exercises in each session, and ended up gravitating to Pilates altogether. I have gained an enormous increase in strength, stamina, and energy, plus an added flexibility to my body. It has been a very positive experience for me and I always look forward to my twice a week sessions.  My congratulations to the Good Space!  The instructors, and the atmosphere, are a positive influence for a great work-out.

Julie is the best teacher I have ever had.  She always has a happy, energetic outlook on life, and she spreads her joy to anyone she talks to.  She is an amazing Pilates teacher.  She will always go the extra mile to help her students understand exactly what they are doing and why it is beneficial.  She explains everything, and even demonstrates the exercises if necessary.  She is always patient and understanding.  She can easily figure out a person’s body type and immediately know which exercises would be beneficial for his/her body.  She also knows how to pace her students individually, as some move along more quickly than others.  No matter who you are, Julie will make a difference, not only in doing Pilates, but in your life.  She will bring a smile to your face every time you see her.  No matter what my day was like, I always wanted to give 100% effort when I was working with Julie because she inspired me so much.

I have never exercised so much in my entire life, but I am enjoying almost every breathless moment. I have become totally addicted to The Good Space and the yoga and Pilates classes. Running was totally off my radar screen, but I am now showing up at Memorial Park on Saturday mornings. My goal is to participate in the Houston marathon next year. I am Spinning up a storm, too. My stamina has increased dramatically, as has my appetite! My fellow Challengers are a delightful group and camaraderie abounds.
